Vibes and Empty Bottles: Mother Nature's First Headline in Chicago

On Dec. 14. 2017, everyone at Empty Bottles on the westside of Chicago witnessed history, it was very first time Mother Nature headlined a show in Chicago. The late night show was filled with great music, great performances, and even greater vibes.

The set began with a candlelight vigil and a prayer to Kenneka Jenkins, a chicago teen found in a chicago hotel freezer, this set the tone and ambiance for the rest of the performance.

The female duo, performed familiar material, as well as a series of new material, and though majority of the crowd never heard these songs before, it seemed like we knew every word to these songs. Beginning with thought provoking songs like ISIS (Unreleased), and W.O.W., then the transition to more light hearted songs like ANTIDOTE and Get High, both being unreleased songs, resonated with the crowd. Get High in particular spoke of the moochers of our society, who don’t want to put on, but still want to get high. Now I don’t smoke, but I felt that on a spiritual level.

Their biggest pop of the night, however, came with MVMT, part of the reason may be the smooth transition from ANTIDOTE, and part of the reason might be it’s one of their more popular songs. The second pop was RUN IT UP, this song closed out the set and it is their leading single to their upcoming project.

Overall, I really enjoyed the concert, the song selection was great, and the DJ was really entertaining. You can actually say that there were three performers that night. DJ Cymba was phenomenal keeping the crowd entertained. Klevah and T.R.U.T.H as performers were great as well. Their vocal ability, didn’t deviate at all from their recordings, nor did they rely on full backing tracks to carry them. Their on stage presence was captivating and hard to look away from. The audience was also great, most of the time being energetic, and understanding of the ambiance and doing nothing to disturb it, but everything in their power to add to it.
